Jibber Jabber

Thought I’d write a quick blog this morning about nothing. I got to work this morning and Twitter was down. As I sat at my desk with a blank look on my face wondering how I would get my news and communicate with people, I realized that production was probably up at most businesses because of the outage. That doesn’t include people like me who decide to write a blog about Twitter being down. It looks like Twitter is slowly coming back around, but it’s very slow. Twitter has only been around for a few years, but I’ve grown quite attached to it. I don’t want to say I can’t imagine a world without Twitter, but whenever I think of a time before some of the things we take for granted now, a few examples come to mind. Do you remember the days when all you had was one phone line in your home and one person could tie it up for hours? Does today’s generation know what a busy signal is? I also remember when we would go to the beach and if my dad wanted to check into the office, he would have to drive 3 miles to the nearest payphone to make a call because we didn’t even have a phone in our cottage.

In other news, I qualified for a trip to Hawaii yesterday by being caller 20. That gave me a one in sixteen shot at the trip. I didn’t win it so I’m back to calling in every hour. Technically I believe I’m allowed to call back in since I didn’t technically win anything. Yes, I’m always working the system somehow.

Looks like Twitter is back up. Now I can go back to everyone’s jibber jabber, but most importantly I can post this blog about Twitter being down to Twitter.

Even More Crap

I received my third Random Bag of Crap from woot.com yesterday and as always, it didn't disappoint (how could it?).  My first two came via Woot Happy Hours, but I got this one through a genuine Wootoff.  I knew my box weighed 3.1 pounds, but that's all I knew.  I wasn't as fortunate as the guy who received a 35lb box that had a Cuisinart Private Reserve 12 Bottle Countertop Wine Cellar (for $8), but I definitely got $8 worth of crap.

One of my wonderful interns shot the video for me, but had his finger over the microphone the whole time (inexcusable for a sound guy) so I improvised and added some quick VO.
