Big Brother S14 Winner Ian Terry

Congrats to Ian Terry for winning Season 14 of Big Brother. He played one hell of a game and certainly deserved to be in the final two, but as many people know, the best player doesn’t always win. This season is a perfect example of that. Dan Gheesling and Ian were the right people to be in the final, but you can not tell me that Ian played a better game than Dan. Ian won on a vote of 6-1 with the sole vote for Dan coming from Danielle. I predicted that if Ian won the final HoH and took Dan, he would win. I thought the final vote would be 4-3 or 5-2 though.

I think the jury’s vote was already made up, but Dan’s answering of questions and his final plea did not help his cause. He actually seemed nervous to me. The reason I think the jury already made up their mind is because they were so bitter. Frank, who ironically was voted America’s Player, is the most bitter player in reality television history. I hate to be the one to tell you this Frank, but you are not the only who gave up a bunch to be in that house. Hell, you claim you were unemployed, so you certainly did not give up your job like some others. You claim to be a super fan. If you are, you are the most unknowledgable and naive super fan ever. You’re in a house with Dan, arguably the best player to ever play the game, the guy who tried to get you out at every turn of the game, the man who stabbed you in the back too many times to count, and you can’t figure out that he was lying to you and you don’t evict him? You deserved to be voted out. If you want to be mad or bitter at someone, start by looking in the mirror and then talk to your buddy Boogie. He’s the one who convinced you not to get Dan out.

Shane, do you even know what game you were playing? You’re mad at Dan for getting you out of the house, but let’s take a look at this. Maybe you should be mad at your girlfriend for basically putting you on the block. Neither one of you knew if you could trust Dan 100%, but you let her put you up, she did it and Dan voted you out. Why did Dan vote you out? That’s simple and he even told you. He knew he couldn’t beat you and that if you had the chance, you would have taken Danielle to the final two over him. Nothing wrong with that, but can you see why he did it? You’re bitter because he got you out before you could get him out.

I’m not sure why Jenn and Joe voted for Ian. Jenn surprised me more. I thought she appreciated Dan’s game and took issue with Ian’s, but who knows what happened in the Jury House. Did Britney or Frank possible campaign against Dan and get others to switch their vote? If that’s the case, then they did what they were so mad at Dan about by manipulating people. Can anyone say hypocrite?

Some will say Dan played this season of Big Brother like Russell Hantz played Survivor. He played to get to the final, but not to win. Ian pointed out how many competitions he won and how few Dan won. What’s that got to do with anything? Tell me something Ian, you’re such a student of the game. Who is considered the best to ever play Big Brother and how many competitions did that person win? I’ll give you a hint. He’s a doctor and he’s won the exact number of competitions in Big Brother that I have.

What really bothered me about Ian’s recollection of his time in the house was that he did everything on his own. Seriously? Everything on his own? I’m sorry, that is the most ridiculous statement ever. Let’s start with the fact that you were in an alliance. You had other win competitions to help protect you. You had others making strategic decisions to advance themselves and you in the game. Once again, you played a great game. I do not want to take that away from you, but you were a very angry young man in the house and I would have hated to see your reaction if you had not won or even worse, had Dan not taken you to the final.

Lastly, the whole question session by the jury seemed way too scripted for me. It did not seem natural and that the jury was asking questions that they didn’t really want to ask. I don’t like that Danielle didn’t get time to interact with the jury before the voting.

Who Wins Big Brother?

Time is running out before the Big Brother finale so I thought I’d go ahead and make my predictions. I’ve gone over all the scenarios a bazillion times in my head, but nothing really matters until we know who wins HoH between Ian and Dan. Obviously there are 4 different scenarios that could occur. Dan wins and takes Danielle. Dan wins and takes Ian. Ian wins and takes Danielle. Ian wins and takes Dan. Let’s look at each one and how I think the votes would play out.

Dan wins and takes Danielle

No way does Shane pick Dan and Jenn loves Danielle. I think Joe, Britney and Ian vote for Dan out of respect for the game. The wild cards are Frank and Ashley. Ashley will vote how Franks wants her to and even though Frank doesn’t like Dan, he would vote for him out of respect for the game that he gave up so much for.

Jenn votes for Danielle

Shane votes for Danielle

Joe votes for Dan

Britney voted for Dan

Ian voted for Dan

Frank votes for Dan

Ashley votes for Dan

Dan wins 5-2

Dan wins and takes Ian

Even though Danielle would be pissed at Dan for not taking her, she would still vote for him. Jenn is not a fan of Ian’s and I don’t think Joe cares for him either. Britney is a tossup. She cares deeply for Ian, but respects Dan’s game. I’m not sure about Frank either, so I split his and Britney’s votes.

Shane votes for Ian

Danielle votes for Dan

Jenn votes for Dan

Britney votes for Ian

Frank votes for Dan

Ashley votes for Dan

Joe votes for Dan

Dan wins 5-2. I honestly don’t think Dan would beat Ian 5-2 and this would be 4-3 either way with Britney’s, Frank’s and Ashley’s vote up for grabs. In the end Dan wins 4-3.

Ian wins and take Dan

I think Jenn, Joe, Shane and Danielle all vote the same as above. The other three give Ian the benefit of the doubt for winning the last HoH and he wins 4-3, possibly 5-2.

Ian wins and takes Danielle

I want to say that Ian wins this 7-0, but I don’t know that that would happen. This season was too weird for anyone to win on that margin. Dan and Shane definitely will be in Danielle’s corner. I think Jenn would be too out of respect of Danielle making it to the final. Frank and Ashley would go for Ian. Britney takes care of Ian one last time. Joe is the deciding vote.

Dan votes Danielle

Shane votes Danielle

Jenn votes Danielle

Frank votes Ian

Ashley votes Ian

Britney votes for Ian

Joe votes for Danielle

Danielle wins 4-3

No, I can’t believe I just typed that. Dan won’t have the time to sway the jury in danielle’s favor, but he might have enough time to coach her enough to get her through her 90 second plea to the jury members. As long as she doesn’t get cocky, she might be able to pull it off. If you ask me who wins this without breaking down the votes, I say Ian, but you never know.

I think Dan deserves to win. He coached better than the other three and when he was given the opportunity to play, he showed why he is arguably the best to ever play the game. You may not like how Dan played or like that he threw competitions, but that’s all part of the game. The idea is to get to the end. Dr. Will never won a competition and Dan had probably thrown more comps than everyone else combined, yet they’re considered the best. The biggest factors for Dan, if he is in the final two, is how much do people respect his game and his passion for the game and how much they think he is BSing them during his speech. Yes, he snowed them during his funeral, but everything he said, with the exception of what he said to danielle, was completely honest.

Ian deserves to win more than Danielle, but the best player doesn’t always win. The interesting thing for me is that Danielle played the game the way Big Brother designed it, all the way through the season. She listened to her coach and took his advice. At times she challenged him and got him to see things her way (when Dan kept Shane). For that, I have no problem with her in the final three and wouldn’t be upset if she won. It also would have been interesting to see what Boogie could have done if his head was in the game to play and not just coach, but we’ll never know.

Two For The Price Of One

I know I didn’t write a blog after last week’s eviction, but I have two very good reasons for that. One, I was still in a little bit of shock that Dan somehow managed to pull his huge move off. Second, I was lazy. I did try to make up for it with a vlog. Let’s move onto this week’s evictions. Yes, evictions. There were two again this week and for this season, the double eviction has been about the only exciting thing in the house. Let’s recap. Frank and Joe were on the block and Frank was expecting to stay unless he was backstabbed for the 4 millionth time or scumbagged for 643,256th time. BTW, scumbagged? Seriously? What kind of word is that? Between Frank and Willie this season, America was introduced to new words and sayings, but I digress. In the end only Jenn voted to keep Frank and he was sent packing. He was slightly shocked which is always fun for the viewers. I’ll never forget being in the live audience during Season 10 when Jessie was evicted. The look on his face was priceless.

After the eviction they went right into a HoH competition. There was a series a seven questions and the HGs got a point for each one they got right. The person with the most points after the seven questions would win. At the end, Dan Danielle and Jenn were all tied. They would write their answer for the tiebreaker question: How many minutes was Jodi in the house before being evicted? Dan was closest and became HoH. He had a brief moment before having to nominating two people. He decided on Joe and Ian. Joe knew he was going up and Dan’s reasoning for Ian going up was that Ian had yet to be on the block. I think it was also done to hide any alliance that Dan has with Ian outside of the Quack Pack.

They HGs then went back outside for the PoV competition which, since there were only six people left, everyone got to play in. They had to move a shark fin through a maze on a board and then hit their button. Ian and his analytical mind won in convincing fashion and he took himself off the block right after the competition. This left Dan having to name a replacement nominee. In a surprise move, he nominated Danielle. Well, at least she seemed surprised and I was surprised, so I say it was a surprising move. Here’s where, at least to me, the show got interesting. Because CBS is stupid and the President’s speech ran long, I missed what happened next. Thanks to my great investigative skills though, I found out what happen. Joe was sent to the Jury House and Danielle is still c̶l̶i̶n̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶S̶h̶a̶n̶e̶ in the game.

I don’t know what the next HoH competition was, but Ian won. What’s he going to do next? Who will he nominate? He’s going to have to put at least one member of the Quack pack up on the block along with Jenn. I’m assuming she will be one of the nominees since she’s not in his alliance. Everyone gets to play for veto, so it’s better to have Jenn up so if she wins PoV she wouldn’t be able to save two people. If she doesn’t win it, you have to imagine that she will go home unless a couple of people would rather bring her to the final three and then final two.

Dan is probably the only one who has been giving serious thought as to who he would want to face in the final two. Ian might have given it some thought, but not like Dan has. If the rest of them are not thinking about it, they will end up in the jury house because even if it’s not your decision, you need to be able to convince someone that it’s in their best interest to bring you along.

Here’s this week’s odds based on the game through last night’s episode.

Ian 5:1

Dan 15:2

Danielle 10:1

Shane 15:1

Jenn 100:1

I don’t think Jenn can win the whole thing, but I do think she could make it to the final two. Ian and Dan are playing the best games right now and are in complete control.

Is Dan The Greatest?

My recap, almost a week late, of Dan's amazing move in the Big Brother house. Is Dan the greatest Big Brother player ever? My thoughts...

Big Brother Needs Rehab

YAWN. Huh? What? Big Brother is still on? I hadn’t noticed. I believe it has put us all to sleep this season. This last week had to be the WORST WEEK EVER in the Big Brother house. I’d like to tell you what happened, but there’s nothing to tell. Wil was evicted on a  6-2 vote. He and Joe were on the block and I can not recall less campaigning to be saved. Earlier in the week Frank, as HoH, won the POV and could have backdoored Dan and gotten him out of the game, but since Boogie didn’t tell him to, he didn’t.

Zingbot made an appearance for the POV competition. Big Brother decided in their infinite wisdom that since the competition last season to build the Bride of Zingbot was so successful, they would have the HGs build some sort of pipe system to create a baby Zingbot (There’s that originality coming through. Good job BB). Of course we didn’t get to see all of the Zings, but CBS was kind enough to show us Danielle’s about Shane getting a restraining order. That’s a good move BB. Make the stalker feel even more uncomfortable. I’m surprised Danielle didn’t try to vote out Zingbot, but then again, she never plays personal.

For this week’s HoH competition BB decided to bring back another recent competition. This one involved moving across a slippery surface with a cup of liquid trying to fill a large ball.  But wait, BB added a twist! What? A twist? How exciting! Tell us more Julie. America gets to vote? Awesome, we like these kind of votes. What am I voting on? Huh? I’m sorry, what did you say? Oh, you only know about this if you’re east of the Mississippi? Thanks BB. It’s not like the west coast watches anyway (is anyone at this point?). T̶h̶e̶ ̶e̶a̶s̶t̶ ̶c̶o̶a̶s̶t̶ America voted to offer a $10,000 option to the game. If you chose, you could fill a smaller ball for the cash, but you better have that filled before the HoH ball is filled because once that one is filled, the game is over. There was a second smaller baller as well. Fill this one and you would be safe for the week. When the game was over Shane had won HoH, Britney had won safety (not that she’ll need it, but at least no one else got it) and Boogie, in the surprise of the summer, went for and won the $10,000.

Julie Chen let the viewers know that next week there will be a double eviction. It’s about time something exciting will happen in the house. Now maybe if they stopped giving the HGs Xanax and gave them more alcohol, we’d be getting somewhere.

This HoH is pivotal. The Silent 6 is running out of pawns to nominate and get out of the house. I suppose Shane could nominate Joe/Jenn/Ashley this week and get rid of one of them. That’s the safe route. If he was smart, he would nominate 2 of the three and hope the third one plays for and wins the POV. That person could then take someone else off the block and “force” Shane to nominate Frank or Boogie and get one of them out of the game. Personally I’d be looking to get Boogie out because if you do that, Frank becomes so much less of a player. He would have to win everything to stay in the game while Boogie could get in people’s heads and keep himself safe.

Big Brother really needs to lay off the returning HGs, recycling of competitions and the meds. Stop trying to find people that fit a mold and go back to bringing in people who want to be there to win rather than use it as a platform to get noticed or just to collect a weekly stipend.

Here’s this week’s odds based on where we are in the game right now.

Shane 3:1

Frank 5:1

Dan 10:1

Boogie 12:1

Ian 15:1

Britney 20:1

Joe 100:1

Jenn 250:1

Ashley 400:1
