I ran out to get a much needed haircut, then back to the office for a little more work. I ran home and took a quick shower (always needed after a haircut) and headed to Beverly Hills. I was going to Sprinkles Cupcakes as Jennette McCurdy was there for charity. Sprinkles was donating proceeds from sales to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I thought that was a good reason to go. The fact that Jennette was there was an added bonus. She is definitely one of my most favorite people that I've met since moving to LA. Not only is she talented, but she has a good soul.
As I was driving home I heard the news that Whitney Houston had died. Seriously? She died? Definitely a tragic event. I'm not the biggest Whitney fan, but is definitely one of the top talent of my generation. As too often is the case, a wonderfully talented person dies too early. Here I thought my day started off crappy because I had to go into work and had a stain on my jeans, but as someone who has lost so much when it comes to family, you quickly realize that some things are so minor in the grand scheme, that they just really don't matter. I feel for Whitney and her family, the same way I feel for all the troops that have been lost and their families. It's a shame that it takes a tragedy to put things in perspective.
